
Superconducting units corresponding to SQUIDS (Superconducting Quantum Interferometry Gadget) can carry out ultra-sensitive measurements of magnetic fields. Leiden physicsts invented a technique to 3-D-print these and different superconducting units in minutes.
“Fabricating superconducting units on a pc chip is a multi-step and demanding process, requiring devoted services,” says Kaveh Lahabi, a physicist at Leiden Universty. “It often takes days to finish,”
Lahabi and co-authors have developed a brand new method, through which Josephson junctions, important components of SQUIDS, might be printed on virtually any floor in mere minutes, inside an electron microscope.
