It was my ten year blogging anniversary last week, which to be honest is still blowing my mind.
But it got me thinking and reminiscing about blogging, and my love for blogs. And what inspired me to start blogging all those years ago. The main reason was that I was inspired by other bloggers.
I used spend all of my spare time browsing beauty blogs, it was where I got my recommendations and even now, before I buy a product, I’ll check out blogs to see what they say.
Today I thought I’d talk about 10 products I have bought becasue of bloggers, hope you’re ready for some throwbacks!
Revlon Colourstay Foundation
My first ever blogger influenced purchase was the Revlon Colorstay foundation, I started reading Laura’s blog when it was called Lollipop26 and I remember she compared it to a MAC foundation. I was always eager to try a MAC foundation so this seemed the next best thing. My friend Sam told me about Laura’s blog one day, I went home that night and read literally every post then went to Boots the next day and bought the Revlon Foundation!
Essie Mint Candy Apple
Remember when essie wasn’t stocked in the UK? I remember it seemed like such a cool nail brand and Anna posted about Mint Candy Apple and that was that – I needed it. I had to order it off eBay and I thought it was the most amazing polish ever!! I can remember being overjoyed when they were finally released into the UK!
The Urban Decay Naked Palette will always be one of my favourite palettes ever, it’s the perfect neutral eye palette and I loved mine. I was influenced to buy after watching many YouTube tutorials and I treated that palette like it was my baby. I’ll never forget the craziness of the second launch (if you know you know #prayforkelly)
Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick’s
The Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks were a big deal for a while. There was a nude shade which I can’t remember for the life of me what the name was, and then the infamous 107 which was a wine colour. I think Zoe was the reason we all went mad for that shade which didn’t look half as good on me as it did on her!
Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer
The bourjois chocolate bronzer would be found in most girls’ makeup bag if you looked during the years of 2010-2012. I never really loved it, but admittedly did use it every day, I remember it having this really sweet smell and bits of glitter in too?
Alpha H Liquid Gold
Ah does anyone else remember this cult toner that everyone said was incredible? I was convinced it would make my skin flawless, and shelled out £30 of my student loan on it 😂 however it did not work as well for me and I was very disappointed. I started to realise that I had to pay attention to different skin types and what might work for someone else might not work for me.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
I’m going to be controversial now, but I’ve never really liked this concealer. Shock horror! This is a very famous blogger concealer, I mean it’s super cheap and some people swear by it, but it’s just not for me. But I bought into the hype due to seeing so many bloggers rave about it. However if you want to know a drugstore concealer that is really good- the ELF camo concealer. It’s £5, high coverage and really blendable!
Sleek Rose Gold Blush
Does anyone else remember the makeup brand Sleek? I used to love their palettes and they were very hyped in the blogging world. But I remember the blushes being talked about (alot) I’m pretty sure Milly was my reasoning for buying Sleek blushes and there was a lot of love for the Rose Gold Blush, it was very glittery and shimmery but I loved it. I also had a bright pink almost clownish one which I also loved (oh dear!)
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Liner
A more recent blogger purchase, and this is the infamous Pillow talk lip liner by Charlotte Tilbury, I think this was around 2014 when Kylie Jenner was trying to convince us all her new lips were due to lipliner, and a lot of beauty content creators made tutorials using the Pillow Talk liner. I decided I needed it, after all I had barely no top lip and maybe it would turn me into Kylie Jenner. I do really like this lipliner, but it did not perform miracles 😂
Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Bronzer
Finally I wanted to finish with a blogger inspired purchase from earlier this year, as I am still heavily influenced by bloggers! I totally bought into the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Bronzer hype when it was released earlier this Summer. It seemed to be on every make up video on YouTube and I was in the market for a new bronzer, so I was sold. I actually love it, and think it’s one of my favourite bronzers I’ve ever used. Definitely a lot better than that chocolate bronzer!!
Well that was a nice trip down memory lane, I’d love to know if there’s any beauty products you bought because of bloggers?
